Discuss the adaptation mechanism of integrated transportation and tourism industry agglomeration based on the perspective of synergy and coupling, and build a transportation dominance model based on the county scale, and apply the coupling coordination model, exploratory data analysis, stepwise regression and spatial measurement model to explore the evolutionary characteristics and driving factors of the adaptation space between the traffic dominance and the agglomeration of the tourism industry in the western Hunan region from 2000 to 2019. The results show that: (1) The mismatch between regional transportation advantage and tourism industry agglomeration has gradually improved, and the balance of adaptation has gradually improved, forming a circle structure with Yongding District, Fenghuang County, and Jishou City as the core. (2) The overall adaptation level has obvious spatial correlation, and the local agglomeration mode is diversified, which is manifested as a downward trend from Cili County, Huayuan County, Jishou City to Chenxi County and Hongjiang City. (3) The efficiency of regional innovation, the abundance of tourism resources, and the level of urbanization have significantly promoted the adaptation of transportation advantages and the agglomeration of tourism industries. The level of industrial structure has always been the dominant factor affecting adaptation.
