Spatial-temporal Evolution Characteristics and Driving Forces of “Production-living-ecological” Spaces in Western Jilin Province

Abstract

Based on four phases of land use remote sensing monitoring data, the spatial and temporal changes and landscape patterns changes of the “production-living-ecological” spaces in western Jilin Province during each decade from 1990 to 2020 were analyzed by using transfer matrix, information entropy and landscape pattern index, and the main driving forces of evolution were identified by using principal component analysis. The results showed that: (1) The area of production and living space in western Jilin Province increased, while the area of ecological space decreased. (2) The distribution of production and ecological space and the structural transformation between them were significant, with the interconversion of grassland ecological space and agricultural production space being the main ones. (3) The stability of the “production-living-ecological” spatial structure and the homogeneity of land use showed an overall decline, while the degree of control of agricultural production space over the “production-living-ecological” spaces was on the rise. (4) The landscape pattern of production space had increased in the first 20 years, and the fragmentation of patches had increased in the last 10 years; the landscape pattern of ecological and living space tended to be integrated and regular in the first 10 years, and the fragmentation of patches was significant in the last 20 years. (5) The evolution of the “production-living-ecological” spaces in western Jilin Province was the result of the combined effect of socio-economic, agricultural and industrial structure factors.
