Impact of Leisure Time on Tourist Destination and Transportation Choice Behavior

Abstract

By using questionnaire data, the impact of leisure time on tourist destination and transportation choice behavior is comparatively studied. The research found that: ① The length and continuity of leisure time affect the tourist destination choice behavior together. The group with longer leisure time and stronger continuity has the higher visiting rates to the same target scenic spot, and the slower distance decay rate. ② The length and continuity of leisure time affect tourist transportation choice behavior together. The group with longer leisure time and stronger continuity, the main mode’s transition zone of transportation from self-driving to train shifts inward, and the main mode’s transition zone of transportation from train to airplane shifts outward. ③ Leisure time can be used as a segmentation variable of tourism market, which can be segmented into three market: teachers and students, public institutions personnel, civil servants, enterprise personnel, freelancers and service industry personnel.
